The Romanian Seafarers - A Better Choice
Romania has a tradition of more than 100 years in merchant
shipping and maritime education and two excellent Naval and Maritime
Universities with modern and extended training facilities.

Marine career is very attractive to the young Romanians. More than 400
students are graduating and more than 800 ratings are completing their
training every year.
There is an increased competition every year in the admittance
at the Romanian Universities-there are more than 9 candidates for each
position.
The ratings and officers are trained according to latest
STCW requirements in the Marine Training Center located in Constanta,
an institution affiliated to UNCTAD.
The Romanian Licenses and Certificates are on the "White
list of certification" and are widely accepted by the Maritime Authorities
all over the world.
The total number of Romanian seafarers exceeds 15,000, -
about 6,000 officers and more than 9,000 ratings.
Considering the collapse of the state owned fleet most of
them are now available on the labor market at very competitive wages.
Romania has excellent experts in shipbuilding and repairs.
There are 12 major shipyards that reduced their activity in the past
years and an impressive mass of qualified technicians is available on
the market.
